The company was founded by Steve Boltinghouse, who has been serving Monroe and surrounding counties since 1973. Steve has built a solid reputation on quality workmanship, outstanding service, and competitive pricing. Steve sold the company in November 2000 to Professional Contracting, LLC, which is owned by George Schermer. Since the transition, Steve has retired. George has committed himself and his employees to strive for the same quality, service and competitive pricing that Steve's customers had come to appreciate. We deal directly and honestly with our customers to ensure they are satisfied. We rely on customer referrals for our continued success.

Our approach to roofing is not solely based on quality products or service, but more on quality workmanship. Our crews are the best around because we train them. Our crew leaders attend regular seminars and training sessions to keep up with the changes of our industry. We have crews that specialize in steep-slope roofing, low-sloped roofing, metal roofing, service and repairs, and guttering.

In September 2001, we relocated to Robinson Industrial Park on the Southwest side of Bloomington to expand our facilities and better meet the needs of our customers and employees.

Meet our Staff...

Office Staff

• George Schermer - Owner and General Manager
  George acquired the company from Steve Boltinghouse in 2000. George oversees day to day operation in the shingle department. Our shingle department is trained to install Wood Shake, Tile, and Dimensional as well as Regular 3-tab Asphalt Shingles.
• Gary Schermer - Operations Manager
  Gary is new to the company, starting in June of 2006. Gary handles all scheduling and management of gutter projects as well as all payroll and accounting for Steve's Roofing.
• Mark Hayes - Project Manager & Estimator
  Mark joined the SRSM crew in 2000. Mark does our on-site estimates for all types of roofing and guttering. He also manages all of our Commercial Projects.
• Regina VanMeter - Project Coordinator
  Regina came on board Steve's Roofing in August 2005. Regina orders all materials for Steve's Roofing and puts all of the details together for the projects. Regina is the office contact for the Service Department.

• David Henderson - Commercial Low-Slope Roofing and Metal Roofing
  David has been with the company since 2001. He supervises all of our large low-slope roof installations. His tenure with the company has provided him the opportunity to gain experience in all types of roofing applications. One of David's biggest accomplishments with Steve's Roofing is the renovation of The French Lick Springs Resort and Spa.
• Jeff Moore - Residential Low-Slope and Metal Roofing
  Jeff has been with the company since the summer of 2005. He supervises most of our smaller residential low-slope roof installations as well as our metal projects. Mark's background includes general construction sheet metal work as well as several years of roofing with all types of roofing applications.
• George Bookwalter - Residential & Commercial Roofing Service & Repairs
  George has been with the company since 1998. He has experience in all types of roofing applications as well as general maintenance.
• Josh Hinson - Residential & Commercial Service, Repairs & Guttering
  Josh joined the company in 2003. Josh has experience with all types of roofing and gutter applications. Josh has top quality customer service skills.
• Jim Skinner - Commercial/Residential Guttering
  Jim joined the company in 2002. He leads all of our gutter installations including the installation of the No-Clog Gutter Shield.
