Gutters and downspouts - the vertical sections that send runoff down to the ground - are made out of aluminum, vinyl, galvanized steel, stainless steel and copper. Copper is a material usually reserved for classic restorations. It's handsome, never rusts and never needs painting. But at about $20 per linear foot, it's also expensive.

Aluminum is the most common product used today. The K-style gutter holds more water than traditional half-round guttering, and this is the product which is generally recommended. The one disadvantage of aluminum gutters is that they may tend to deform when a heavy ladder is leaned up against them. This is a minor shortcoming, which can be overcome by careful use of ladders.

Steve's Roofing and Sheet Metal recommends the installation of the No-Clog Gutter Shield. The No-Clog Gutter Shield system eliminates gutter cleaning guaranteed which is why it is better than your average gutter guards or screens. With gutter screens, you still need to clean your gutters two to six times a year, depending on your location. No-Clog Gutter Shield The No-Clog Gutter Shield offers a self flushing gutter system that mounts directly to your fascia board, not jeopardizing the integrity of the roof. It is manufactured here in our shop and installed by our local staff. It is a solid aluminum shield that fully covers your guttering and sheds debris. The water break feature forces water to break free of the shield and hit directly in the middle of the gutter, flushing out any small debris that might get into the gutter. We use hidden nylon brackets installed on 24" centers with zinc coated screws. This prevents "pull-out" along with superior holding power. The No-Clog Gutter Shield can even be installed on most existing guttering. It is available in a variety of colors to compliment your home. We guarantee your gutters will not clog, or we will clean them for free!
